author & illustrator of "The Curious Garden" and "Children Make Terrible Pets,"
3. Continue your drawing and writing ~ The story needs a beginning, a middle and an end. What is the adventure for your characters? Today you will write the middle of your story and draw your character in this adventure. Character development is very important. What are they thinking? How are they going to behave in your adventure? Both your teacher and Mr. Mangol have talked about interesting characters, so think about that when your character talks.
4. If you have not started, you are the author and illustrator you are in charge!
Do you want to write a picture book with a few words on each page or a chapter book? Get some paper or a journal and let's get started!
5. The plan is when you are finished, a Flipgrid will be setup so you can share your story and illustrations. For now keep them in a safe place.

3. Now it is your turn. What is your story about? ~ The story will need a beginning, middle and end. What is the adventure for your characters? Today you will write the beginning of your story and draw your character in the first adventure.
4. As author and illustrator you are in charge! Do you want to write a picture book with a few words on each page or a chapter book? Get some paper or a journal and let's get started!
5. How to show movement & feelings
6. Draw & write as much as you would like today. If you want to continue tomorrow in your free time, go for it!
7. Keep your story in a safe place and we will continue in the next class

1. Watch the Illustrator & Author Introduction
2. Create a Character ~ This week you will draw a character or two for your story. The character must be your own original design. Think about how Mo Willems and Eric Carle draw and color their characters. You are the illustrator so use the supplies you like to work with like pencils, markers, paint, or colored paper.
3. Think about your book ~ In future weeks you will create an adventure for your characters. You may think about the story, but you do not need to write it yet. Each week we will draw more of your adventure.
The story will need a beginning, middle and end.
We will probably finish the book at the end of November.
So find a safe place to keep your drawings.

ORGANIZE YOUR SUPPLIES: Paper, colored pencils or markers
You will listen to Yo-Yo-Ma and draw your doodle bird along with Mo Willems.
Let the music inspire your doodle birds and Long lines. If you need more time just play it again or play your own music!
